Dan Blanchard – Technical Helpdesk and Workshop Manager
How long have you worked for Daikin UK Ltd?
I have worked for Daikin (formerly Cooling Service Ltd.) since 1999, so have completed 15 years’ service.
Describe your current role
I am currently employed as the Technical Helpdesk and Workshop Manager. The helpdesk provides front line support for our customer base and supports all products that Daikin have introduced to the market over the past 30 years. The workshop provides bespoke solutions to give our sales force an added weapon - solutions such as the strip and rebuilding of VRV/Chillers has secured many a sales order!!
How has your role changed / career evolved since here?
On a personal level my job has changed significantly and regularly over the last 15 years. I started as an apprentice in the workshop before transferring to the helpdesk where I learnt a great deal of information, I then moved into the field to work directly with the products fault finding and commissioning VRV before working in the FQS new business section. I worked directly with Conveni pack as it was launched in the UK and then moved to Alterma systems and the airnet (DNSS system) as those products were launched. I then spent 2 years coordinating our service partner network across the UK. In September 2013 I was asked to manage the product champion section but in April 2014 was asked to manage the helpdesk and workshop sections after a restructure of FQS.
What do you enjoy most about working for Daikin?
I have been at Daikin for almost half of my life, I have made some great friends during that time and I can honestly say that the people here have played a big part in the enjoyment I get from work. I also enjoy the variety and the challenge to help our customers.
Why would you encourage someone to work at Daikin?
I believe Daikin is a good employer, the company is always looking to aspire to greater things and although this can generate challenges it creates opportunities!!
