Heat pump installation
what does installation involve?

Heat Pump Installation

A Daikin trained installer will assess the suitability of your home and discuss heat pump installation options and other energy efficiency improvements.
Getting the right advice on your heat pump installation is important because the best solution for your home will depend on:
  • How energy efficient and well insulated your home is
  • The space available inside and outside your home
  • Whether you want a simple boiler replacement or an entirely new heating system
Your installer can talk you through the heat pump installation options and show the potential energy savings you can expect to enjoy.

How do I apply for domestic RHI funding?

If you are applying for RHI funding, you’ll need to have a Green Deal Assessment, get insulation if required, and select both an MCS accredited installer and an MCS certified renewable heating system.

For more information, take a look at our Domestic RHI Guide or Householder Checklist.

Is Planning needed?

Installing a heat pump (air-to-water) on domestic premises in England is considered to be Permitted Development, so installing a heat pump doesn't usually require planning permission as long as all limits and conditions are met.

Choosing the right installer

To be eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive, your chosen heat pump and installer must both be accredited by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

Always look for an MCS accredited installer to be sure they meet the very highest standards required by Government. Daikin UK's trained installers are highly experienced and available to provide all the design assistance and advice you need before installing a heat pump.

Easier installation

A Daikin Altherma heat pump is easier to install than a ground source heat pump with less disruption to your home and garden. No groundworks or boreholes are needed making installation quicker (typically installation time is less than a week).
