Daikin Turkey expands
(16/07/2007)
Daikin Europe establishes marketing company in Turkey.
Large expansion foreseen in the Turkish air conditioning market
On 1 May 2007, Daikin Europe, N.V. set up a marketing company in the Republic of Turkey: Daikin Klima Pazarlama Limited Şirketi. This makes Daikin the first Japanese air conditioning manufacturer to establish a base of operations in Turkey. The company will actively seek to expand sales in a market dominated by local manufacturers.
Booming market
The Turkish air conditioning market is huge, the 7th largest in Europe, and still shows considerable growth potential. After recovering from an economic crisis in 2001, Turkey has enjoyed steady growth, with development in metropolitan areas especially strong. The demand for commercial and large-scale AC equipment – Daikin's strength – is expanding thanks to a sharp rise in the number of hotels, offices and stores. Penetration in the residential market is under 10% and growing rapidly, with Turkey having the 3rd largest demand for residential air conditioning in Europe.
New distributor
In conjunction with establishment of its Turkish company, Daikin has also appointed a new distributor in Turkey: Isisan Klima San. ve Tic. A.S. Daikin intends to expand sales of residential and commercial air-conditioners through the Isisan sales and service network in addition to enhanced marketing activities conducted by the new marketing company.
With its enhanced operations in Turkey, Daikin aims to catch up with local air conditioning manufacturers, and its targets call for a substantial market share by fiscal year 2010.
