Battle Abey, Visitor centre

New Battle Abbey Visitor Centre Provides A ‘Blast From the Past’ in Daikin VRV Air Conditioned Comfort.

Battle Abey, Visitor Centre(1).Visitors to the new Battle Abbey   visitor centre, opened to the public   in February, can enjoy a journey   back in history in air conditioned   comfort provided by Daikin Mini   VRVIII-S heat pump inverter air   conditioning.

The remarkable new complex is part   of a £2.6 million investment by   English Heritage aimed at improving   both visitor facilities and general   awareness of the famous battle at   this historic site. Imaginatively   designed and skilfully laid out, the   centre offers ‘hands on’ experience   of the bloody events associated with   1066 in an exciting interactive   exhibition. Virtual personal   involvement in the Battle of   Hastings itself can also be had via a   dramatic film show, complete with   computer generated images in the   new 40 seat auditorium.

Conditioned air for the exhibition   and auditorium is provided by   Daikin FXSQ slim duct ceiling   concealed indoor fan coil units with   capacities of 4.6kW (cooling) and   4.7kW (heating), ducted to linear   diffuser strip   located along   the front face of   ceiling   bulkheads. Five   FXSQ units   serve the main   exhibition   display area   with a further 3   in the   auditorium. A   Daikin RZQ Sky   Air Super   Inverter system   provides   comfort cooling   for the audio   visual room via   a wall mounted   FAQ indoor fan   coil unit (capacity 9.7kW cooling and   9.4kW heating).

The FXSQ fan coil units are grouped   into 2 zones and controlled by   remote wall mounted controllers – a   separate remote controller caters for   the FAQ fan coil unit. Tempered   fresh air is supplied from air   handling plant in the main plant   room via a separate ducted system.   Outdoor condensing units for the   Mini VRVIII-S and Sky Air systems   are located in a compound in the car   park. Supplementary heating is   provided for ancillary areas and to a   coil on the air handling unit by gas   fired boiler plant.

Building services for the visitor   centre were designed by   consultants, Gibbs Dench   Associates, Tonbridge, Kent and the   VRV and Sky Air systems were   installed and commissioned by   Aspen Air Conditioning Ltd.
