VRV Heat Recovery Air Conditioning for Dakota Hotels’ Black Beauty
Forthbridge Hotel in South Queensferry, boasts spectacular views across the Firth of Forth. The latest in a growing chain of properties developed by Dakota Hotels, the hotel features the visually striking black granite, black cladding and smoked glass exterior finish associated with the rapidly expanding group.
Based around the concept of ‘affordable hotel living’, the 132 room £15 million development nevertheless comprises a number of innovative design and energy saving features and is air conditioned throughout by top of the range VRV heat recovery systems. Building services for the project were designed and specified by consulting engineers, RSP, Edinburgh and the air conditioning was installed by Daikin D1 installers, Denco Air Conditioning, East Kilbride.
The 130 attractive New York loft apartment style guest bedrooms and 2 suites are fitted with Daikin FXDQ slim line duct mounted fan coil units (2.2 to 2.8kW cooling and 2.5 to 3.2kW heating capacities) housed in bulkheads above the room entry doors. Internal design temperature for the bedrooms is set at 23°C. Larger duct mounted FXSQ fan coil units (9.0kW cooling and 10.0kW heating capacities) supply conditioned air to the restaurant with 4 way blow FXZQ ceiling cassette units (2.8kW cooling and 3.2kW heating capacities) serving the gymnasium and front office. A single FTKS wall mounted split is located in the ground floor communications room.
Tempered fresh air for the fan coil units in all areas other than the guest bedrooms is supplied via air handling plant located in the roof top plant area adjacent to the 13 VRV outdoor condensing units. The overall air conditioning system is monitored and controlled via a Daikin Intelligent Controller, located in the front office and linked to the wall mounted room temperature controllers in all areas. _tcm46-84761.jpg)
