Norfolk House, Croyden
VRV Air Conditioning Helps Breathe New Life Into ‘60s Built Croydon Landmark Building.
One of South London’s recent and more unusual commercial developments is that of Norfolk House, Wellesley Road, Croydon, unusual in that it comprises a ‘60s built, split level building, which after several years vacant, has now been successfully redeveloped into a 6 storey office complex combined with an 11 storey Travelodge Hotel.
The new office component of Norfolk House has been completely refurbished to high grade accommodation standards complete with Daikin heat recovery VRV air conditioning throughout, installed by Carmel Building Services, Epsom. Overall building services for the project were designed and specified by consultants, Hilson Moran, Farnborough.
Conditioned air is supplied to the open plan offices on floors 2 to 6 via a total of 111 Daikin FXQS slim duct ceiling indoor fan coil units, located within the ceiling voids and ducted to ceiling level linear diffuser strip around the perimeter of the building. The 14 VRV outdoor condensing units are grouped into 2 purpose designed acoustic enclosures on the 4th and 7th floor roofs. The 7 VRV systems are zone controlled by remote wall mounted room temperature controllers, linked to a Daikin I-controller in the ground floor control room.
Cooling and heating loads for the complex are 474 and 392kW respectively and indoor temperature is set at 21°+/- 1 deg.C.
Commenting on the project, a Carmel Building Services spokesman stated “VRV air conditioning was selected largely for its flexibility in meeting the fast track installation requirements of a 40 year old building with shallow ceiling voids.” VRV Air Conditioning Helps Breathe New Life Into ‘60s Built Croydon Landmark Building _tcm46-84783.jpg)
