Quantifiable environmental data to help you on your journey to Net Zero

Transparency is crucial when it comes to reducing carbon emissions and unnecessary energy consumption. EPDs provide an excellent way of detailing this information for all to see.

What is an EPD?

EPD stands for Environmental Product Declaration. EPDs provide quality-assured, quantifiable environmental data. This data is presented in a standardised way, making it easier to compare different products and systems.

As the requirement for transitioning to more sustainable ways of heating and cooling buildings becomes increasingly pressing, the EPD provides reassurance to building designers, planners, contractors, and developers.

An EPD asks: How does a product perform in different stages of its lifecycle?

Multiple Life stages

It’s important to consider all the life stages a product goes through to define how sustainable it is. A product might be produced in a very sustainable way, but if it has a short life span or is impossible to recycle, then it is less sustainable as a whole.

An EPD details each stage of the product life cycle: Production, construction, end of life and the potential for reuse, recovery or recycling.

Why is Daikin leading the way?

Transitioning to more sustainable products is a key priority for Daikin. The introduction of the EPD is concrete evidence that we are delivering against this. It gives customers and installers key environmental data and will reassure them about our product’s green credentials.

Our EPD for the VRV Heat Recovery R32 system is the first of its kind in the industry, and it sets the bar for the rest of the industry.
