Daikin’s EWWH~VZ water source heat pump now delivers up to 90°C, making it ideal for district heating and industrial applications.
District heat networks are growing
District Heat Networks (DHNs) are quickly becoming a key part of the UK’s plan to cut carbon emissions. They offer a smarter, more efficient way to supply heating and hot water to homes, offices and industrial buildings, especially in dense urban areas. As more local authorities and developers commit to low-carbon infrastructure, demand is growing for heat pumps that can connect easily to these networks and deliver strong performance across a range of temperatures.

Making the most of local heat sources
Daikin’s EWWH~VZ water source heat pump is designed to work with a wide range of renewable heat sources. That includes 5th generation ambient loops, as well as natural and recovered sources like rivers, canals and even wastewater. These sources provide a stable, low-carbon base that supports efficient heat delivery all year round. With its flexible design and compact footprint, the EWWH~VZ is a perfect fit for modern heat network projects.
Now with a high-temperature option up to 90°C
The latest version of the EWWH~VZ can now supply water temperatures up to 90°C, making it suitable as a heat generator for 3rd and 4th generation district heat networks. It’s also ideal for buildings or systems that need higher temperatures, such as older properties or industrial processes. It uses advanced inverter compressors and smart controls to maintain performance, even in challenging conditions, while keeping energy use low.
Where the opportunity lies
Heat networks are already up and running, or in development, in cities including:
- London: Multiple boroughs like Islington and Southwark are expanding heat networks.
- Manchester: Investing heavily in both new and upgraded systems.
- Bristol and Sheffield: Leading the way with city-owned networks and green energy sources.
Other areas earmarked for future growth include parts of Leeds, Birmingham, Glasgow and Newcastle, supported by funding from the Green Heat Network Fund. These locations represent a growing market for advanced, high-performance heat pump systems.
