Making the switch to an energy-efficient, low-carbon home can be straightforward when you know what to expect. Follow this checklist to understand each step of your heat pump installation journey.
Step 1: Do your initial research
It’s worth spending time doing your own research to understand what kind of heat pump you may need – do you want heating or cooling or both? - and what funding you may be eligible for from Government and/or your mortgage provider. You can explore our funding hub to see what Government funding is available in your area.
Step 2: Find a reputable local installer
Visit one of Daikin’s Sustainable Home Centres to talk through the best options for your property and find a local installer. Or visit Daikin’s Find an Installer page to locate a local Sustainable Home Network installer and request a consultation.
Step 3: Initial consultation & site survey
Your installer will visit to assess your property, understand your existing insulation levels, and identify any remedial measures needed, as well as to discuss your heating, cooling and hot water needs. They should also advise whether your home is eligible for Government funding towards the cost of your heat pump.
Step 4: Heat loss survey & calculation
The installer will calculate the heat loss requirements for each room to ensure your heat pump is correctly sized for maximum efficiency and lower running costs.
Step 5: System design & quotation
Your installer will design a tailored solution with the right Daikin heat pump model and components and provide you with a detailed quotation. Once you decide to go ahead, your installer should handle all of the paperwork to claim the Government funding towards the cost of your heat pump.
Step 6: Professional installation
Your installer will remove any unneeded elements of your existing heating system, upgrade any pipework and heating emitters (radiators or underfloor heating) as required and make all electrical connections, before connecting your new system to your wired or wifi controls.
Step 7: System commissioning and handover
Your installer will set up your new system for peak performance and talk you through how to adjust settings using your controls and the Onecta app. They will register your system on Stand By Me, so you will get an email to login to the after care platform.
Step 8: Energy tariff set up
Check which is the best energy tariff to benefit from the lowest possible running costs. Many energy providers now offer specific tariffs for heat pump systems, with extra low rates at particular times of day
Step 9: Ongoing maintenance & support
Daikin provides dedicated after care services, including a range of maintenance packages and extended warranty options available through Stand By Me, plus a dedicated homeowner contact centre.
Step 10: Control your heat pump remotely
Using the Onecta app, you can control your heat pump remotely to adjust the climate control and hot water settings and make sure your home comfort is exactly how you want it.
