More information
What is the ECO4 scheme?
ECO means the Energy Company Obligation – it’s the government’s way of ensuring energy companies are supporting homeowners and private tenants to improve energy efficiency (and costs) in these challenging economic times.
Alongside the opportunity to install a more energy efficient heating system – with the added peace of mind that brings, there are countless other advantages.
Loft, wall, and floor insulation measures are offered under this scheme to provide an insulating barrier, preventing heat from escaping and making homes more energy efficient. This should contribute to reduced energy bills and improved quality of life.
As well as helping reduce energy costs, ECO4 also targets issues of damp, mould and mildew that may lead to health issues in some households. IZ Energy has a ventilation strategy to combat this.
If you’re a landlord, it’s in your best interests to inform tenants of the grant and encourage them to apply (providing the tenant qualifies for the grant and has your approval to proceed).
For those who do, the grant is generous with some of the lowest EPC-rated properties receiving up to £20,000, depending on the measures needed following a home survey.
