The Daikin Centre was home to BBC Earth Experience, an epic immersive experience.

BBC Earth Experience moves to Australia

The BBC Earth Experience closed its doors in the UK on 1 February 2024.

Daikin’s sponsorship of the venue has enabled hundreds of thousands of people to experience the event. We have also seen tens of thousands of visits to the Daikin Climate Zone, helping people discover how heat pumps offer a low-cost, low-carbon solution to home heating.

The BBC Earth Experience will continue to run in its new location in Melbourne, Australia.

Further information about the closure can be found on the BBC Earth Experience’s website.

What was the BBC Earth Experience?

BBC Earth Experience was a ground-breaking attraction offering visitors the chance to experience the extraordinary diversity of our seven unique continents, on the most epic scale featuring bespoke narration from David Attenborough. BBC Earth Experience showcased footage, including extended scenes to fully immerse the visitor, and music from the BBC Studios Natural History Unit television series Seven Worlds, One Planet, projected on multiple multi-angle screens using the very latest digital screen technology.  This unique London attraction offered a truly transformative experience that allowed audiences to feel as though they had stepped into the natural world.

The Daikin Centre

The Daikin Centre was designed by Moon Eye Productions to have the lowest possible carbon footprint. We helped to achieve this through the installation of Daikin's low-carbon climate control systems. Engineered to minimise environmental impact, they also delivered the highest levels of comfort and healthy indoor air for every visitor.

Now that the BBC Earth Experience has moved on, this fully demountable venue will be taken down.

Sponsoring the Daikin Centre

"At Daikin, we’re committed to delivering low-carbon heating and cooling solutions. So, we are delighted to be working with Moon Eye Productions and Live Nation to host the BBC Earth Experience in London.  It’s a unique opportunity for people to learn more about our wonderful environment and gain a new perspective on our impact on the planet. This great opportunity shows us how important it is to take every possible step to move towards our Net Zero targets, on both a personal and national level."

Discover the power of now

Daikin has commissioned artist Vic Lee to create a thought-provoking mural on the site of the BBC Earth Experience using Air-Ink, a first-of-its-kind ink made from pollution. The mural highlights how carbon, which can often be invisible, is threatening our health and the planet, whilst creating awareness that 95% of the technology to stop the climate crisis is available today.

The global challenge

The science is clear. We need to act now to fight global warming. The combined effects of soaring temperatures, rising sea levels, crop failures and biodiversity loss have created a climate crisis that affects us all.

Urgent action is needed, and it’s needed now.

The UK government is committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. What does this actually mean? It marks the end of Britain’s contribution to global warming. It’s a huge step in the right direction, and we all need to play our part.

How can I reduce my carbon footprint?

Every single person can make a difference. Even the smallest steps matter when we all work together.

Here are the top ten carbon-cutting measures you can take to reduce your personal impact on the planet.

Meeting our responsibility to the planet

In order to meet the UK’s target of net zero by 2050, switching to sustainable energy is critical. That’s why Daikin is leading a heating revolution to help people reduce their carbon footprint.

Daikin is committed to providing homes, businesses and industries with the most efficient and safe solutions to meet all of our cooling and heating needs, today and in the future.

Quite simply, our products help people reduce their carbon footprint and their personal impact on the environment. Together we can be part of the climate solution.

Daikin’s steps towards a carbon-neutral future

Daikin recognises that we have a major social responsibility to the natural environment.

We have made it our challenge to achieve carbon neutrality.

1. Carbon neutral at every step

We aim to achieve a carbon-neutral society across our entire value chain. This covers not only product development and production, but also the impact of our product use. And also what happens to our systems at the end of life.

2. Reducing electricity consumption

Alongside minimising CO2 emissions from our business operations, we’re focusing on reducing electricity consumption during usage. We’re making it our mission to lead the industry towards a greener future.

3. Pioneering improved refrigerants

We’re working hard to mitigate the impact of refrigerants, by pioneering the use of improved refrigerants and developing next generation solutions to reduce global warming even further. We’re also recycling refrigerants currently in use.

4. Leading the heat-pump revolution

Daikin is fully behind the decarbonisation of the heating market. We’re investing heavily to promote the transition from combustion heating to heat pumps that use heat in the air. To put it simply, heat pumps are the future of heating.
