The Carlton is a private members’ club, open seven days a week in Portsmouth. The committee identified a need for air conditioning when it realised that the existing heating system was inefficient. Many of the members are elderly and feel the cold, so the club wanted a system to create a comfortable environment whatever the conditions outside. Aware of its responsibility to be careful with members’ money, it obtained four quotations for this project. The brief was very simple: it had several areas to heat and cool, and it needed the most energy efficient system.
Units providing comfort
Regal installed:
> a 10kW round flow cassette in the main function area
> a 6kW wall mounted unit in the main bar area
> a 4.2kW wall mounted unit in the conservatory
> two 3.5kW wall mounted units in the snooker room.
Year-round comfort for members
With help from local Daikin D1 Partner, Regal Environmental Systems, the club has installed five Daikin R32 split systems to meet requirements for heating and cooling.

Stuart Watt, Operations Director, Regal Environmental Systems
“We chose the Daikin R32 system because it was highly recommended by Regal,” “They were not the cheapest, but were best suited to install a system that met our requirements.” – John Wademan, committee member.
“The club gave us a specific brief to resolve issues with uneven heating tand comfort levels for special functions. We offered them the Daikin R32 systems because of their energy efficiency and the latest technology.”
